What can you make with that new air fryer? I’ve got the answers for you in this Air Fryer 101 post! Air fryers are more popular than ever and you can make nearly anything in them! If you’re new to using your air fryer is post will share with you a great start!!
I’m here to help you dig into those questions that you have! Feel free to ask your questions in the comments and I’ve got you covered!
First, let me say – I don’t really think it matters what kind of air fryer you have – whether it’s the oven kind or the basket kind – it’s still heating up quick and cooking with circulating air.
So what next? Make space on your counter for it – because I predict this will quickly become your new favorite kitchen appliance. I have a two air fryers but my favorite is the Paula Deen 9.5 Quart – it’s big enough for anything you want to cook!
Cooking Chicken in an Air Fryer
Chicken wings are the #1 thing you should try because they are the easiest! Whether you are using frozen wings (these from Perdue Farms are perfect – preseasoned! 14 minutes at 400 degrees – shake half way through) or you make your own from fresh – wings are so simple.
With everything air fryer – I recommend doing LESS time – you can temp it and see if it’s done and always add more time. But you can’t undo overcooked dry chicken! (Get an instant read meat thermometer – life changing!)
Air Fryer Egg Recipes
Eggs are delicious in the air fryer! You can do them in many ways – and here are my favorites:
Pork is such a forgiving meat – it’s juicy and is good just about anyway you make it. I’ve made quite a few varieties of pork in the air fryer – here are my favorites:
Bacon is super easy – once you make it in the air fryer – you’ll never use a skillet again! Lay your slices in and set it for 8-13 minutes – depending on how crispy you like your bacon. I go through making air fryer bacon in detail in this post.
And if you LOVE bacon – here are a few more bacon-y recipes for your air fryer:
This one is so easy! I like to marinate my steak first – I don’t even try to come up with a recipe – my bestie has the best steak marinade recipe ever! She makes it every time I visit her! OMG – so good!
Then you air fry at 350 for 8-15 minutes – depending on how you like your steak. As you can see – I like my steak rare/medium rare. You can also cut up your steak into bite size pieces – just lower the time more on the 8-10 minute time because they’ll cook more quickly.
Air Fryer Hamburgers
You can also make frozen or fresh hamburgers in the air fryer – here are the details:
Fish is so easy and delicious in the air fryer! I have found that thinner, flaky fish cooks better – things like tilapia and perch – rather than halibut. The thicker white fish gets a little rubbery. Thicker pink fish like salmon though – is AMAZING in the air fryer. Here are my favorite seafood recipes:
This is my FAVORITE discovery! You can put pretty much any vegetable in the air fryer!!! There are pretty much two ways to do vegetables: breaded or roasted with just a little olive oil, salt and pepper. The length of time is going to depend on the vegetable and how hearty it is – but they’re all delicious! Here are some of my favorites:
** Must have tool! ** I bought this set of three interlocking trays on Pampered Chef from my friend Melissa. I use them every time I’m breading something. They’re just the right size, lock together so it’s no mess between the trays and clean up easily! $25!
Can you cook canned or frozen biscuits in the air fryer?
But – let me tell you – my favorite air fryer recipe – is biscuit donuts!! OMG – they’re delicious and so easy! This is literally a must-try recipe for your air fryer! So yummy!
Sure! That’s actually probably the first thing most people make. It’s easy – the rule of thumb is start at HALF the time on the bag for the oven instructions – same temp. I never preheat my air fryer either. Again – if something isn’t quite done – add time in 2-3 minute increments – but half the time is a pretty good estimation.
Can you use batter in the air fryer?
I wouldn’t – I haven’t tried it yet – but the circulating air will blow the batter off the items and can gunk up your heating element.
What else can I make in the air fryer?
The first place to go would to my Air Fryer Recipe Page! I have lots of great ideas and I publish a new air fryer recipe every Friday!
If you have any questions I didn’t answer – let me know! If there’s something you want to know if it can be cooked in the air fryer – let me know that too and I’ll add it to my list!
I am on a low sodium diet..so I have to be careful to use low sodium marinated?? Any ideas??
i would stick with homemade marinades – maybe olive oil, balsamic vinegar and seasonings that you like
