Air Fryer Chicken Sausage Recipe Ingredients
Chicken Sausage is a great source of protein and it’s naturally low carb! Chicken sausage is also fun because it comes in multiple flavors – I grabbed the Caprese flavor from Kroger.
- Chicken Sausage – yeah that’s pretty much it! Chicken sausage is already cooked – so all you’re doing with the air fryer is warming it up!
- This time/temp also works for smoked sausage.
- Aidell brand is my favorite – they have a pineapple & bacon flavor of chicken sausage that I love!

How to Serve Air Fryer Chicken Sausage
- Hot Dog Buns – I love the buns with the top slit. For this Caprese variety I added mozzarella cheese and fresh basil for some extra flavor.
- If serving with buns – add to air fryer for last minute of cooking time so they get toasty!
- Over Pasta – slice up and add a little marinara sauce, sauteed vegetables (like mushrooms, red onion and bell pepper) and serve in a bowl over angel hair pasta. I had this for lunch today and added a couple of spoonfuls of ricotta cheese on top.
- Stir Fry – add broccoli, bell peppers and onions to your air fryer and toss in teriyaki sauce and serve over rice. You can use cauliflower rice to keep it keto-friendly and low carb.

How to Make Chicken Sausage in the Air Fryer
Can’t get much easier than this – chicken sausage makes a great weeknight meal!
- Place Chicken Sausage links in the air fryer basket at least an inch apart in a single layer – no need for olive oil or cooking spray!
- Air Fry at 360º for 5 minutes
- If you want to be sure it’s done, you can test the internal temperature with an instant read meat thermometer and be sure it’s 160º.
- These cook quickly so no need to flip them.
- If serving on buns, add them to the air fryer for the last minute so they are toasty!
- Remove with tongs & Serve!

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Nah! I never do – I find the food cooks just fine without it.
They only take 5 minutes because they’re already cooked – so you’re just heating them up! If you do find raw chicken sausage, I would cook them at the same temperature for 8-10 minutes.
Because chicken sausage is pre-cooked, you’re just reheating it. In 5 minutes, 1-2 links will be heated through.
Naturally it is – but a lot of the chicken sausages have additional flavors and ingredients so be sure to check the package to be sure.
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass storage ones) in the fridge for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or in the air fryer at 250º for 5 minutes. I recommend you cook chicken sausage leftovers in the microwave so you aren’t overcooking the sausage.
I wouldn’t – these sausages are pre-cooked so you don’t want to heat them too much. You can store uncooked in the freezer though!
