What You Will Love About this Baked Feta Pasta Recipe
So many things to love about this dish! It’s so simple to make – pop it in a baking dish and go! It’s delicious – I love the taste of Mediterranean flavors so I added Kalamata olives to make it even more Med! It’s filling – adding chicken to the pasta dish helps make it more filling and a great dish for any night of the week.

Ingredients for Baked Feta Chicken Pasta
This dish is literally made with simple ingredients that I love! I added the olives and basil because they’re my favorites. I have an AeroGarden and my basil has been exploding and the cherry tomatoes were straight from the tomato plant on my front porch!
- 3 (5 oz) boneless chicken breasts – these individually-wrapped chicken breasts are 5 ounces each (i.e. fairly small) – use whatever you normally would to feed your family
- 1 tbsp minced Garlic – or 2 garlic cloves, minced
- You could even jazz it up with roasted garlic
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning – or a mix of dried oregano & basil
- 1/2 tsp Coarse Kosher Salt
- 1/4 tsp Freshly ground pepper
- 1 pint Cherry tomatoes
- 1/3 cup Kalamata olives, halved – buy the pitted!!! (I might not have this time by accident!! haha)
- 3-4 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 8-oz Block of feta cheese – if you really like cheese or have a big family – you might want to double the cheese
- 6 oz bow tie pasta – you can use any shaped pasta that will hold the sauce in grooved – ziti, rotini or penne pasta are very popular for this as well
- OPTIONAL: 2 tbsp Chopped fresh basil – just adds some freshness to the dish

How to Make Baked Feta Pasta with Chicken
This is super simple – grab your 9×13 baking dish (or something similar) and get started!
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Season the chicken. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Spray baking pan with non-stick spray.
- Add the seasoned chicken, tomatoes, olives and garlic to an oven-safe 9×13-inch baking dish and toss to combine.
- Arrange the block of feta in the middle of the baking dish. Drizzle olive oil over all ingredients.
- Place dish in oven and bake for 30 minutes. Tomatoes should begin to burst and the feta will be golden brown.
- While the chicken mixture is baking, boil the pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot.
- OPTIONAL: Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water before you drain the bowties. When you stir together the cheese, tomatoes and bowties – add the pasta water and stir to make it a little saucier.
- At the end of cooking time, remove the chicken breasts to a clean cutting board to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- While chicken rests, turn oven to broil (high) and return the baking dish with the cheese and tomatoes to the oven for about 3 minutes to brown the cheese and blister the tomatoes a little more.
- Remove the baking dish from the oven. Stir the cheese and tomatoes in the casserole dish, breaking open the tomatoes.
- Add the cooked pasta and toss until evenly coated in sauce.
- Top with sliced chicken and fresh herbs (like basil and parsley) and serve!

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
You could swap out Ricotta or Goat cheese if you don’t love Feta. Ricotta will be creamy and give it more of an Italian flare. The goat cheese is creamy and more of a cream cheese texture.
Sure! I would say you just probably want two tubs of it since there’s a lot less in the crumbled tubs. But if you’re buying a solid block – don’t crumble it.
You sure can! It will add a bit more sauciness. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water before you drain the bowties. When you stir together the cheese, tomatoes and bowties – add the pasta water and stir. The gluten from the pasta in the water helps thicken up the water and the juices to make it saucier. I think it was fine without it – but you definitely could add it.
Feta is a salty, crumbly cheese often used in Mediterranean food. So think Greek salads, wraps and sandwiches!
Store leftovers in an airtight container and place in refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave for 2 minutes.

Variations
You can easily add a few tweaks to make this dish something your family will love even more depending on your preferences:
- Spicy – Add Red Pepper Flakes to make this spicy.
- Vegetables – Add more veggies like spinach, broccoli or cauliflower.
- Protein – Swap out the chicken for boneless pork tenderloin or brown Italian sausage on the stove and mix in when you combine with pasta.
- Double Cheese – When I make this again, I might add double the cheese!
