What You Will ❤️ About Texas Roadhouse Salmon Recipe
- Lemon Garlic Butter – I mean – does the taste get any better?!
- Goes well with all the sides! Salmon goes with everything – from vegetables (Like the Texas Roadhouse Green Beans) to carbs (like these Loaded Mashed Potatoes)!
- 15 Minute Meal – I made this for a friend that was installing a shower head for me. He was shocked when he walked out and it was done in less than 15 minutes!

Ingredients for Texas Roadhouse Salmon
Texas Roadhouse is known for their steak – obviously but their seafood is awesome too! Salmon is so good on its own – you just need a little bit of seasoning to make it perfect! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Salmon filets – I used a pound of salmon with the skin on. I like cooking with the skin on because after its cooked – it slides off easily if you don’t want to eat it – but has a beautiful crispy crust if you do want to eat it! You could feed 3-4 people with a pound of salmon but I just did two large filets because it’s just me!
- Salt & Black Pepper – this is always an essential
- Garlic Cloves & Garlic Powder – I doubled up on the garlic by sprinkling garlic powder on the salmon and then adding fresh garlic to the butter sauce.
- Lemon – we’re going to use lemon zest & juice! There’s so much flavor in the zest – don’t miss out on it!
- Olive Oil & Butter – start with olive oil and this will sear the salmon, then the butter will make a yummy sauce for the end!

Recipe Variations
There’s so many ways to make salmon – after you’ve made it the Texas Roadhouse way – let’s mix it up and try it a new way! Here are a few ideas for all you seafood lovers!
- Spicier! If you like your salmon a little spicier – add a little chili powder to the mix
- Chili Lime – seasonings with Chili Lime – like Tajin are super popular right now – you could swap the lemon with lime for a different citrus zing
- Bourbon – Hey everybody in Cincinnati loves bourbon – so add some to a Bourbon Salmon marinade like the folks at Longhorn!
- Bake – I used a cast iron skillet to get a nice sear similar to a grilled salmon but you could also bake this for 20 min or use your air fryer at 360º for 8 minutes.

How to make Texas Roadhouse Salmon
My biggest tip for making salmon is when you put it in the pan – LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! If you let it cook – the sear will actually help it not stick!
I also used a cast iron pan instead of the grill or a grill pan. The grill pan might give you nice marks – but it actually makes the salmon stick more! So I recommend using a cast iron skillet unless you’re heating up the grill or the Blackstone.
Now let’s get to making this delicious recipe!
- Rinse salmon and pat dry with paper towels
- In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder and lemon zest.
- Rub flesh side of salmon filets with mixture of spices.
- In a cast iron skillet, over medium-high heat, add olive oil to the pan.
- Once pan is hot, add seasoned salmon fillets – skin side down. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the skin becomes crispy and golden brown. Just leave the salmon – don’t mess with it.
- Using a fish spatula, flip the salmon filets and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. If you have a super THIN piece of salmon – it’s only going to need 2 minutes per side.
- After flipping salmon, add butter and minced garlic to pan. As butter melts, spoon garlic butter over the salmon fillets. Add in fresh lemon juice from 1/2 lemon as well!
- Grab your instant read meat thermometer because salmon cooks so quickly! Check the salmon and it should be 125º for medium rare. (Highly recommend) This will take 2-5 minutes depending on the thickness of your salmon.
- You’ll notice the side of the salmon turning from pink to a more opaque white – as it cooks but trust that thermometer! It’s your BFF! It will flake perfectly with your fork!
- Remove salmon from pan and garnish with lemon wedge.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
It’s stainless steel and really thin at the end – so it scrapes under the fish really well – but it’s also delicate so it flips nicely!
